Star billing for Collingwood House trainees

22/06/2009

Top performers at a Gloucestershire training centre will receive star billing in future to stand out from the crowd.

The 2gether NHS Foundation Trust’s Collingwood House NVQ Centre, in Horton Road, Gloucester, has been approved as a City & Guilds Star Unit Centre for Health and Social Care NVQs.

This means outstanding trainees will receive a Star Units Credit certificate to help their future career development.

Chris Joyner, Management Development Trainer at 2gether, said: “We are delighted Collingwood House has become one of the few centres in the country to offer the extra recognition of Star Units for Health and Social Care NVQs.

“Star Units give outstanding learners recognition above and beyond the NVQ. These are the people who go the extra mile and the award of a Star Unit certificate will prove to employers that someone has exceptional knowledge and skills.”

In order to be eligible to achieve a Star Unit certificate, trainees must display the following qualities while undertaking the NVQ in Health and Social Care:

  • Exceptional knowledge and application to practice
  • Excellent communication with staff and patients
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of their subject area including policies
  • Exceptional resourceful ability
  • Outstanding team member
