2gether Trust supports Pride of Gloucestershire Community Awards

17/01/2009

As part of the 2gether Trust’s commitment to and acknowledgment of the support provided by carers in Gloucestershire, it has announced its involvement with the Pride of Gloucestershire Community Awards.

Shaun Clee, Chief Executive of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust said “Carers are both adults and young people. They deserve our respect for the unpaid support they give a relative or friend with a disability, addiction, age related, physical or mental illness.”

“We recognise and encourage the active involvement of carers in helping to shape treatment and influence services throughout Gloucestershire.”

The 2gether NHS Foundation Trust is managed locally and encourages everyone in Gloucestershire to become members so they have a say in helping to develop local services.

During December, the Trust also organised a number of presentations for families and carers. The aim was to discuss current developments within the provision of specialist Learning Disability services across Gloucestershire.

Debbie Furniss, Service Director for 2gether trust’s Learning Disability said: “We believe that carer involvement and support is a vital part of our service provision. We strive to ensure continuous improvements are made to our services and welcome feedback from service users and carers on the experiences they have with us”.

Clee continued: “The Caring Hero award honours all carers in our community, those who spend time shopping for the elderly, working within their community or giving full or part time help those less fortunate than them. We are proud to acknowledge their unwavering dedication and commitment.”

The Pride of Gloucestershire Awards was launched on 14 January 2009. The winners will be announced during a ceremony on June 19. Details on how to nominate is on www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/prideofgloucestershire
