Music Therapy for Patients
05/03/2008
For the past five months, patients at Wotton Lawn Hospital have continued to experience a variety of live musical performances .This has been part of the Music Unites initiative, co-ordinated by the charity Music in Hospitals.
The concerts have been organised across all of the wards and the Therapy department to enable as many patients as possible to be part of the live performances. Concerts have included a Pianist, Trombonist, Vocalists, Guitarists and a Harpist .Patients has enjoyed dancing, singing and providing percussion.
Bringing music into the hospital has been hugely therapeutic for patients and benefited the hospital environment as a whole. Feedback from the patients has been extremely positive with individuals reporting that the concerts helped then feel more relaxed, happier and gain enjoyment from actively participating in the live performances.
The project will conclude on March 18TH and the Therapy department is currently examining ways of continuing and expanding the live performances within the hospital.
