New Director of Operations for Local Mental Health Trust

Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce
the appointment of Simon Thompson who joined us recently as Director of Operations.
Simon was an exceptional and outstanding candidate who was appointed after
a lengthy and rigorous selection process against a strong field.
Simon has worked for the NHS since 1990, qualifying as a Registered Mental Nurse in 1993. He has worked in a variety of posts, including community mental health, primary care and criminal justice settings. In 2000 he became clinical lead for mental health in the primary care trust in Hereford, then moved into management leading the integration with social care, before spending the last three years in Dudley working with health and social care to lead the integration agenda. Key achievements include successful redesign of services, with national recognition on an integrated Acute Services model, which shaped the Healthcare Commission’s review process.
Simon said “I am proud and delighted to have been appointed to Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I am looking forward enormously to working with all the staff across the Trust to take forward a challenging agenda to ensure that we are active members of the community.

Simon will be responsible for the operational services that have been focused into five strategic service units to reflect the needs in the community. The five units are: Mental Health Services for Working Age Adults,, Mental Health Services for Older People, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Learning Disability Services and Substance Misuse Services.
