Praise for Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust

Users of mental health services at three-star Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust have praised the care they get from doctors, nurses and other specialist staff, such as psychologists and social workers, as part of a major national survey published today.
A total of 300 service users at Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust took part in the national Mental Health Patient Survey, published by the Healthcare Commission.
Nationally, around 26,500 users of specialist mental health services took part in the survey.
The results for Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust show that:
- 96% of respondents trust their community psychiatric nurse and 91% have trust and confidence in their psychiatrist
- 85% of respondents rate their overall care as excellent, very good or good
- 77% felt their psychiatrist listened to them carefully
- 44% had been given access to "talking therapies" such as counseling or psychotherapy
- 30% have access to the phone number of someone from local mental health services they can contact in an emergency David McGrath, Director of Social Care said: 'We are pleased that a high percentage of service users rate their overall care as excellent, very good or good and are continuing to try and improve access to out-of-hours services, with the ideal being, services available around the clock. We are delighted with the level of trust services users place in our staff, which is of course a great credit to them.'
